Hello again everyone. My post today is in regards to obtaining spare keys when ever you purchase a new or used car. I've had several customers in recent weeks who have called or come in to get a spare key made for their vehicles that they had recently purchased. Only to find out (in great shock) how expensive a spare key can be. This is because almost any vehicle built now has some kind of anti-theft system in the actual key itself. These keys are called transponder keys. Others also refer to them as laser cut. These keys start anywhere from $50 to upwards of $500. (depending on the car). Unfortunately most car dealers and buyers are not aware of the cost of these keys and put off getting a spare made until after the fact. Sometimes not until they lose the only key they had. (which makes it even more expensive) So do yourself a favor and demand a second key from the dealer! Trust me. They wont want to lose the deal over a key! And if your curious about whether the car your purchasing has a transponder key and would like to find out. Just give us a call and tell us the year, make, and model of the car and we can tell you what kind of key it has. And how much it would cost for a spare. That's all for this post. Til next time, Busy B's
